SEND

SEN/D provision at St James’ Church of England Junior school.

St. James’ has very good support systems for children with SEN/D. We have highly qualified and experienced teaching assistants who deliver specific intervention programmes, usually agreed with professionals within the school. We also refer to outside agencies where required, to help support the learning of our pupils.

Children with special needs or disability are supported through an appropriate referral process which may involve outside agencies, and hence specific intervention programmes are developed and delivered to cater for their individual needs, sometimes on a one-to-one basis.

Our Local Offer document is published in line with the new Children and Families Act 2013, which states that Local Authorities and schools are required to publish a ‘Local Offer’ from September 2014. The document sets out support that is available for children and young people with SEN/D in the local area. This tells parents and carers how to access services in our local area and what to expect from these services.

Our Local Offer also gives information about how we identify, assess and make provision for pupils with SEN/D. It describes arrangements that we make which is additional and different for pupils with SEN/D. A summary of the main stages can be found on page 2 of our Local Offer document.

Please get in touch with the school if you have any questions about SEN/D provision.

The St James’ Interventions Provision Plan outlines the main intervention programmes for each year group used to support the learning of children with additional needs.
