Our School

Welcome message from the Head Teacher

I am delighted to welcome you to our school. There is something very special about St James’ and we are incredibly proud of our unique children, supportive parents, inspirational staff and forward thinking governors, we all work together to make St James’ a safe, happy and fun place to learn.

We are proud of our diverse multi-faith, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic pupils, staff and community which make St James’ a rich, unique and harmonious place to learn, work and visit. We aim to reflect the diversity of the community we serve, through strong community cohesion with parental involvement across the school. We also promote an understanding of citizenship and British values through educational visits to different parts of the country. Our vision is best demonstrated through our core values: Care, Courtesy, Consideration and Cooperation.

St James’ is a Good school with the highest expectations and aspirations for all our pupils to achieve to be the best they can be.
At St James’, we believe that children should be curious about their learning. Our curriculum will introduce our children to the essential knowledge; skills and understanding that will help them develop a love for their lifelong learning. We want our children to be confident, resilient and independent learners and ensure that they have an appreciation of their own place in the wider world.

We want our children to be proud and passionate about their learning and have a desire to be successful within and beyond the school day. Our curriculum is designed to provide an outline of core knowledge around which our teachers can develop exciting and stimulating lessons to promote the development of children’s knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum.

The learning environment celebrates and reflects the high emphasis we place on reading for pleasure, aspects of the curriculum and celebration of our children’s work.
We offer a large selection of after school clubs including booster to ensure that all children meet their full potential. Clubs include gymnastics, fencing, gardening, and cookery to name a few.

St James’ is a thriving, happy and caring church school where the children are at the heart of all we do. You are more than welcome to come and visit and look around this exceptional school in Forest Gate.
